The aims of the creative research project are to theorise Vietnamese women’s
contemporary artistic expression in relation to feminist discourse, to create not only
academic scholarship but also materials that create social dialogue amongst artists and the broader community

To produce critical scholarly knowledge about the relay between contemporary social conditions, gender based concerns of Vietnamese women artists and its translation into artistic practices and expression.

To contribute to discourses of Vietnamese feminism by foregrounding women’s wider contributions to the development of contemporary Vietnamese cultural identities. The research is concerned with contemporary art forms (multimedia, installation, sound art, projection) marked by experimentation, for the purpose of foregrounding women’s wider contribution to new creative techniques and artistic vocabularies.
